Banned Book Club: Animal Farm In-Person

Participate in free and open discussions of important civil matters the first Tuesday of each month. In May, we're celebrating the freedom to read by discussing the banned book Animal Farm by George Orwell. We will discuss not only the book itself, but also the concepts of free speech and censorship as we encounter them in the modern world.

This title is only available as an ebook and e-audiobook. If you need assitance downloading and using the Hoopla app, please visit the information desk

Synopsis

“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”

Thus the stage is set for one of the most telling satiric fables ever penned—a razor-edged fairy tale for grown-ups that records the evolution from revolution against tyranny to a totalitarianism just as terrible.
