Banned Book Club: Persepolis In-Person

Celebrate the freedom to read by discussing a banned book with us each quarter. December's title is The Complete Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi. We will discuss not only the book itself, but also the concepts of free speech and censorship as we encounter them in the modern world.

Pick up a copy from the Downtown Library Information Desk.

Vote on future titles here: tiny.cc/fplbanned.

Register to be reminded of this event; registration NOT required.

Synopsis

Persepolis is the story of Satrapi's unforgettable childhood and coming of age within a large and loving family in Tehran during the Islamic Revolution; of the contradictions between private life and public life in a country plagued by political upheaval; of her high school years in Vienna facing the trials of adolescence far from her family; of her homecomingboth sweet and terrible; and, finally, of her self-imposed exile from her beloved homeland.
