Writing Workshop: Point of View In-Person

This event is part of the Flagstaff Big Read.

Who is telling your story, and how?

One of the first things a writer needs to consider when drafting a work of fiction is what point of view to tell the the story in. Would 1st, 2nd, or 3rd person make more sense or add an important perspective? Will the 1st person character be a reliable narrator? Who is the 2nd person written to? Will the 3rd person narration be omniscient or not? Could you change who the viewpoint characters are, and if so, should you?

Explore these questions and more in a writing workshop inspired by Tommy Orange's multi-viewpoint novel, There There, and find out why point of view is so important.
