Movie & Discussion: The Witness In-Person

Join us the 3rd Tuesday of each month for a movie and a group discussion! In March, we're showing the documentary, The Witness, the true story of Kitty Genovese

In 1964, the name "Kitty Genovese" became synonymous with urban apathy after The New York Times printed an article stating that she was stabbed to death during an attack that lasted more than half an hour, while 38 witnesses did nothing.

In 2004, The Times began to question its original story: the number of witnesses, what they observed, the number of attacks. None was more affected by the story than Bill Genovese, Kitty's brother. He vowed not to be like the 38, volunteered for Vietnam, and lost both legs. What if Kitty's mythic story is an urban myth? Breaking his family's half-century of silence, Bill seeks to find the truth confronting the witnesses, the killer, their families and his own.
